Clinical Counsellor and Associate
Elaine recently joined the team and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UVIC and a Master of Counselling from City University, Vancouver. She completed her internship with Living Bridges and was so happy and grateful to join the team after her graduation in 2022.
Elaine has a varied background and had always been attracted to careers helping people in different capacities. Elaine worked in Mental Health for many years and was also an Employment/Career Counsellor with Open Learning Agency and an Academic Advisor at Thompson Rivers University.
Over the years, she has volunteered at the local crisis lines and loves listening to people’s stories and supporting them in their healing journey.
Elaine’s counselling philosophy is rooted in her strong belief that we are born with the ability to be resilient and that we have the inner strength to live the life we desire; in particular, she utilizes a strength-based approach. Elaine is passionate about helping clients realize their own resiliency and providing them with the practical tools to navigate life challenges and past traumas. Her eclectic counselling style includes person-centred and trauma-informed approaches along with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, OEI (Observed and Experiential Integration) and educating clients on the neuroscience of resiliency and healing.
Elaine works with adults of all ages, from all walks of life and loves to work collaboratively with clients to reach their potential, honouring their individual goals.
Elaine is an Island girl. She immigrated to Vancouver Island from the Philippines when she was seven years old and has called Kamloops her home for over 26 years with her husband, two sons, and many pets! Elaine dreams of one day returning to her Island roots but is grateful to be able to enjoy the beautiful blue skies and views of Kamloops, on the traditional unceded territory of the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc peoples. She can be found walking along the beach and exploring with her husband and new puppy Bruno.
