In Our Toolbox: The Safe and Sound Protocol

In Our Toolbox: The Safe and Sound Protocol,

It’s an ongoing commitment to our various professional associations that we continually develop our professional skills and learn new modalities and tools that we can use with our clients, and even more, it’s the culture of our collective to always be learning and growing.

To this end, a few of our Living Bridges counsellors (so far Sarah Widmer,Tennille Phipps and Tara Caffelle) have taken the training called The Safe and Sound Protocol. It's an acoustic vagus nerve stimulator developed by Dr. Stephen Porges based on his Polyvagal Theory and we are very excited to be bringing it into our client sessions.

So what does all that mean?

Basically, our psychological state influences therapeutic outcomes we might expect from therapy. If we can achieve regulation of our nervous systems, reaching a calm and grounded state, we can improve challenges such as:

・anxiety
・inattention + focus
・behavioural regulation and resilience
・sleep
・social and emotional difficulties
・trauma and PTSD
・and many more

This is a very exciting new tool and just with Observed Experiential Integration (OEI) and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR),many of our team are certified to use this in a myriad of helpful ways with clients.

We are very excited about this new offering and are currently taking names on a Wait List to work with it. If you would like to be notified when appointments are available for this protocol, please follow this link and we’ll add you to the list.
